Free Pattern

I am working on a new pattern for the site. I made a lovely alpaca scarf for my sister this winter, and I will post the pattern hopefully by next weekend, as this weekend is the Midwest Fiber and Folk Art Fair. I'll be going to that.
I have also sent out more submissions to various places like magazines and yarn companies. Hears hoping for good news. I have so many ideas, its hard to work on them all. I would very much like a book deal, but I think that I'll wait until I'm more published.

My first published pattern

Its a great thing to be published, and this is my first. I have posted a picture of the shawl below. You can view it at MagKnits past issues, May 2007. If this simple project was any indication of how long a pattern took from start to finish, I would never have done another. But, like with anything, practice make perfect- or almost perfect. Lord knows it took me a year or so before my stockinette stopped looking- well even and untwisted. Perseverance is the key to everything. My second pattern will be published this fall, and that took me almost as long, and several headaches. But it's a more complicated design, with cables and a button band. So I guess that's progress, right?

Just the Start

So far, I've done most of my knitting just for my boys. I love the little projects, thier so satisfing to finish. I really enjoy the baby clothes, and how cute they are. Designing for some ones is the easiest, because if something goes wrong, I can rip it out, or forget it. Sleeves are easy- dropped ones are simple to incorporate. Simple sweater can be just rectangles with a scoop neck, and then colorwork or texture comes easy.
